Surface Book 2 Offers Upgrades, But Storage Comes at a High Price

December 11, 2017 by Fasetto

11_Surface Book 2The reviews are in: Microsoft’s new Surface Book 2 is one of the most powerful, impressive computers on the market.

The Surface Book 2 builds on the design of the previous Surface Book, with its trademark laptop-to-tablet detachable screen. While it looks a lot like its predecessor on the outside, updates to the screen and hardware give this model a significant bump.

The Surface Book 2 boasts an almost 4K display measuring up to 3240 X 2160 pixels (260 ppi). The super-fast, super-responsive touchscreen with great color reproduction and viewing angles will delight creators and innovators of all stripes.

You’ll find some of the most exciting improvements in the hardware, with quad-core processors and the addition of a proper discrete graphics chip. The 15-inch model features Nvidia’s GTX 1060, which supports VR gaming. You’re sure to notice the processor bump whether you’re gaming, editing videos, or performing other CPU-heavy tasks.

But, these upgrades come at a price. There are many configuration options, but the 13.5-inch model starts at $1,500, and the 15-inch starts at $2,500. For anyone who wants or needs bigger storage—and let’s face it, that’s most of us—the 15-inch with 1TB will set you back a whopping $3,300. That’s about $100 more than a comparable MacBook Pro, for anyone keeping score.

So, what to do? If you spring for the storage, know that it has a frustratingly brief shelf life. When your computer inevitably dies, you’ll have to pay heavily for storage all over again.

Yet, with an ultra-portable, high-capacity LINK, you can stop worrying about paying a premium for the laptop or smartphone with the most storage. LINK can act as an extended memory solution for any laptop, tablet or phone as it comes with a 2TB SSD. Storing all your files in one place becomes a clearer reality and you don’t have to pay for a cloud service just because you want to transfer to a new device.

So, if you’re dying for that new Surface Book 2, go for it! Just know there are less expensive solutions available instead of buying the top-of-the-line storage model.

With up to 2TB of SSD storage, the pocket-sized LINK can handle a sea of data, boasting greater storage capacity than your laptop, phone and tablet combined. Better still, as a common memory solution, LINK lives beyond the limited lifespan of any laptop, saving money and frustration over time.

Learn more about how LINK can help bridge the gaps in your digital world.
